Advisory Role

In my collaboration with the production, I designed and crafted Sterling Silver rings for key actors and contributed to the creation of select props during the first season.

I also took on an advisory role, guiding the crew to the capabilities of 3D printing, making certain that even the subtlest details would stand out on screen.

As the second season approached, the demand grew, requiring additional rings as well as a new challenge, the design of police badges specific to Swedish Police boat hats.

THE SILVER SCREEN RING

Highlighted here are a few on-screen moments featuring the ring. It was specifically worn by characters with a mysterious connection to certain beings. In total, we produced 4-5 sterling silver rings in various sizes to accommodate the different actors.

STERLING SILVER SIGNET RING

Using Fusion 360, I shaped the ring’s base and emblem with a T-spline model. Further refinement saw intricate medieval details sculpted via MeshMixer.

The final design was 3D printed in sterling silver, and then treated to achieve an aged, ancient patina finish.

JORDSKOTT: AWARD-WINNING THRILLER SERIES

Jordskott ([ˈjûːɖʂkɔt], translating to "soil shoot") stands as a critically acclaimed Swedish TV thriller, clinching the Best Television Drama at the Kristallen in 2015. This crime drama series, laced with fantasy elements, spanned two seasons, with the second premiering in 2017.

The New York Times aptly described Jordskott as a fusion of police procedural, contagion thriller, and vampire tale, all seamlessly intertwined requiring minimal suspension of disbelief.

THE POLICE BADGE

I began the process by creating a 2D vectorized illustration of the police badge. Once imported into Fusion 360, a 3D CAD program, the badge was then meticulously converted into a 3D model.

The final design was 3D printed in solid brass, then adorned with hand-painted red and blue background details. For practicality, a pin-lock mechanism was integrated to securely attach the badge to fabric police hats.

ANECDOTES

Interestingly, the original badges sported blue and red colors made of felt. I had initially considered using CO2 laser machines in the studio to craft these felt details. However, the production team decided on painted details to reflect modern badges.

Amusingly, when we displayed the genuine police boat hat badge alongside our version, most mistook the authentic badge as the replica, likely attributed to its use of lower-quality materials.
